Strange as it may sound it is nearly impossible to be lost in the house. Our house is a zone which is well known to us, so getting lost in a place where you spend a lot of time, sounds humorous. But I would like to realign your perspective here.
Let’s read from the scripture in Luke 15:8-9
”Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Does she not light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it? And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together and say, Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.”
Now before you start speculating in today’s time who would even bother to spend so much time and effort just trying to find out one lost coin, let me tell you that Jesus used to talk to His disciples and still talks to us in parables and this particular parable is about the lost soul as we read in Luke 15:10
“In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”
Okay so now we understood that the coin Jesus is talking about is a soul but what exactly is meant by “house”?
There are manifold scriptures in the Bible which refer to the house of God as the tent of meeting, tabernacle, the altar, a sanctuary, a pillar, a dwelling place of God. But I love the best description given by Jesus in Matthew 21:13
“My house shall be called a house of prayer“
So clinging to this particular verse we will see how coins are lost in the house or souls are lost in the house of prayer/ the place where they worship.
We live our lives in deception following the so called “Cultural Christianity” thinking that our lives our agreeable in the sight of the Lord but the harsh realism always remain that we merely have a form of Godliness but LACK its power thereof, as mentioned in the scripture in 2 Timothy 3:5
Just taking birth in a Christian family does not make us a Christian. Christ is a choice that we make as individuals. Nobody can choose our faith and belief for us.
Now let’s assume, that our parents led a Godly exemplary life, taught us all about the Bible – beautiful songs, hymns, Psalms and appropriate scripture for all practical situations but still if we haven’t received Jesus as our personal Savior, then we are the lost coin in this parable.
Going to church or tithing regularly, living a self-righteous life thinking since we don’t sin and hence we don’t need a Savior is nothing but fooling ourselves!
We all know John 3:16 by heart but let see verse 18 which reads
“Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only son.”
Understanding that sin sojourns in us and deters us from accepting Jesus as our personal Savior is the first step towards salvation.
We then need to come infront of God, acknowledge our sin, ask God for forgiveness and then be water baptized in the name of Jesus.
It is written in John 3: 3,5
“I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.”
Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, no one can enter, the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and spirit.”
Jesus himself took water baptism setting an example for us how exactly it should be done.
Dear lost coin, repentance can only lead you to baptism where you choose to seeks forgiveness for all your sins and decide to follow Jesus, giving Him charge over all the areas of your life.
It is amazing bordering on hilarious that we expect a baby or infant to follow Jesus and saved in the so called Baptism ceremony!
The saddest truth that remains today is that millions and millions of people are victims of Cultural Christianity and are the lost coins who are very much in the HOUSE but are LOST.
Nicodemus, a Pharisee and a member of Jewish ruling council was commanded by Jesus to be born again. Our being born in a Christian family only makes us a Pharisee and not a child of a living God who demonstrates His power and authority.
The Bible says you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.
Jesus seeks you today dear lost coin. It’s entirely your choice to be set free or continue being lost.
Praying for you, your sister in Christ
