For today’s meditation we would turn our attention to Ezekiel, Chapter 37

Ezekiel 37:1-10, [1] The hand of the Lord was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the Lord, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones, [2] And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry. [3] And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord God, thou knowest. [4] Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. [5] Thus saith the Lord God unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live: [6] And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the Lord. [7] So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone. [8] And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them. [9] Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord God ; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live. [10] So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army.

Many a times in our lives we have dry bones, these can either be some relations, our financial condition, our job or business, our health or even our ministry. We feel that now nothing can happen, all is lost. BUT with Jesus on your side even dry bones can live.

How? Let’s look at what the God wants us to learn from this passage and how we need to walk in faith to see those dry bones coming to life.

Life Lesson I: You cannot do it yourself!

Many a times we keep racking our brains trying to find the best way to revive the dry bones, we keep putting in efforts but see no outcome whatsoever. The scripture is very specific when it says ‘dry bones’ which means there is no hope at all in them to live. Hence even if we spend years making efforts we will still not see the dry bones coming to life or that area of our life changing.

Ezekiel was smart, he understood that he cannot revive the dry bones, hence when asked if the dry bones can live, he responded by surrendering it in God’s hand and saying, Thou knowest. By doing this he steeped out of the way to let the spirit of God take over.

That is the first step, surrender that situation in God’s hand and acknowledge that you cannot do it yourself.

Life Lesson II: Speak to the dry bones

After surrendering the situation in God’s hand the second step is to speak to the dry bones. Speak what you may ask. Speak the Word of the God.

God told Ezekiel to say to the dry bones, “hear the word of the Lord!”

The ONLY way the dry bones can live is when the Word of the Lord is spoken on them.

No amount of words of encouragement, words of positive power can bring life to the dry bones but only the Word of God can bring life to the bones.

Start speaking from God’s word, start proclaiming His promises over that dry bone, start believing that the word of God can make it happen. The moment you start doing it you are allowing the Word of God to work.

The same happened as soon as Ezekiel spoke the word of God, the bones started to come together and sinews and flesh started to form on them.

You will also start seeing things coming together, the impossible becoming possible once you start speaking in faith the word of God.

Life Lesson III: Invite Holy Spirit to work.

Though the bones got together and were covered in sinew, flesh and skin however life was still not in them. That is when God asked Ezekiel to prophesy to the four winds and ask them to breathe life into the bones.

Word of God and Holy Spirit can never work in silos or be separate from each other. The word of God is inspired by the Holy Spirit and without the Holy Spirit entering into a situation the work can never be completed.

In the same way we need the Holy Spirit to enter into that situation and complete the work which the word of God started.

Before that we need to understand that the Holy Spirit is one part of the Holy Trinity which has God the Father, God the Son (Jesus) and Holy Spirit.

Before ascending to heaven, Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would be sent to lead and guide all who have accepted Jesus as their savior till Jesus comes again.

We need to invite the Holy Spirit into our lives and surrender ourselves and the dry bones to Him to breathe life into them and the moment we do it, we would start seeing the once dry bones coming to life, once impossible situation becoming possible, once life threatening situation turning into life saving situation.

Dry bones can live, our lives are a testimony to it.

My wife, Prateeksha was gifted by God to sing and worship Him. She had an amazing voice which she uses for God’s glory. But when her thyroid was removed due to suspect malignant tumor her voice was not the same anymore. This broke her as she thought she would never be able to be part of worship team ever. But we started speaking the word of God, started praying and asked the Holy Spirit to intervene.

She took the step of faith and started singing again in April and today she is worshipping the Lord freely and her voice has changed back to what it was!

You can listen to her songs in the ‘Worship Videos’ section of this website.

As per science that was not possible but when we speak to the dry bones and pray to the Holy Spirit to work they become living army!

What dry bones you have that you want to live again. Start speaking the word of God on them, invite the Holy Spirit to breathe life on them and you will also see the impossible become possible.

God bless you!
